OUR PROJECTS
Accountable, Sustainable, Collaborative, & Innovative
FANTASTIC RICE COMPANY
How it started: This project was started in January of 2018. After discovering Douglas' family had some land in the rice village, Plentiful Harvest helped him and his team buy some adjacent property.
How its going: As of January 2021, Fantastic Rice owns 4 acres of land and rents 1 additional acre. SSebo is the rice farm manager and Fantastic Rice has been able to hire additional seasonal workers. The big picture plan is to begin a Rice Company, processing and bagging rice in order to distribute to many places around Uganda.
The best way to see most current new on the rice farm is to view the Blog.
THE SHOP
How it started: In the Spring of 2020, Carol opened her shop in downtown Mukono.
How its going: Carol is working diligently, professionally and innovatively. She sells a myriad of basic needs for a family including school supplies, non-perishable foods, juices and more. During the numerous lockdowns, Carol was able to take orders and deliver items to customers. She has hired a handful of workers for the shop and deliveries!

RASING PIGS
How it started: Rosette and Dawson opened the piggery in 2020 and it is located along Mukono-Katosi road. This is a high traffic area but not close to residences which makes it ideal for a pig farm.
How it's going: They sell piglets, teach others about their farming methods and sell the mamas after some rounds of babies. We look forward to continual growth in this business and are excited for all the possibilities. The success of Divine Piggery Farm will create more opportunities for youth to come and work on the farm and develop themselves and their families.

BRIQUETTES
Possiano & Phiona
Briquettes are a sustainable source of fuel for cookstoves. They burn similar to charcoal, but are made from recycled and natural materials that are ground and compressed to create "briquettes". It is a facinating process! People in Thailand use coconut shells to make their briquettes! Check it out here!
We are very excited about this up and coming business. We believe it has much potential in Uganda.
FUTURE ENTREPRENEURSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
The Rice Store will be a whole store that will sell rice to small retail businesses and final consumers at reasonable prices. Mainly, the store will deal in buying and selling rice and rice products.
Briquettes are a charcoal alternative that is made of combustible biomass material. Over lockdown, Phiona made briquettes by hand. She was able to sell briquettes in her spare time and the demand was surprising! Our team designed and created a briquette machine (pictured to the left!) and still working to perfect the design and product. While we have a small operation, we would like to expand this. This project has much potetial.
T & E Auto Spare Parts & Garage will offer affordable repair services and sell motorcycle spare parts. In addition, young people will receive mechanic training. Ezra has successfully worked with a large auto repair and spare parts shop in Mukono and Kisoga. He has over 3 years experience and is motivated, ambitious, and passionate about starting his own business. Our office management and business practices will provide positive interactions between workers and customers as well as work stability and fair treatment for our mechanics.
This business will provide services for many types of people - both higher income and lower income earners. Many people hire trucks and the driver to transport their products. This can be booked for moving furniture, animals, products and more.
