Changing Dreams to Reality

It doesn’t matter if you were born in North America or Africa, everybody still has a dream. Plentiful Harvest exists to help young Ugandans realize theirs. However, in a country where 68% of the population is under the age of 24, and 76% of kids never finish secondary school, dreams can be difficult to achieve.

But difficult doesn’t mean impossible. And Plentiful Harvest serves a God who routinely makes the impossible possible.

Plentiful Harvest exists to affirm the equity of all people, confident in the knowledge of their God-given rights and responsibilities. We are committed to the development and support of vulnerable youth and stand firm in the belief that young adults are essential to the progress of Ugandan society. It’s through this vision and by God’s provision that we are able to give financial assistance and job training to young entrepreneurs.

God has already worked through Plentiful Harvest to help several young men and women open small businesses around Mukono, our home base in Uganda. In the last few years, we have helped Carol open her Wholesale Shop, Douglas open Fantastic Rice Company, Rosette and Dawson open Divine Piggery, and Phiona open Crane Briquettes.

At one time, each of these entrepreneurs were just kids with dreams. Now each of them is a business owner making positive contributions to the community around them.

But Plentiful Harvest has even more planned. As COVID finally clears up and restrictions are lifted, we have our eyes set to help more young adults open their own businesses. Soon, Ezra will open his own motorcycle garage, Awali and Rashid will open their own fish trading business, and Brigette will open an electronics shop. What may have once seemed like impossible dreams is becoming possible for each of them. And Plentiful Harvest plans to walk beside them, physically and spiritually, the entire way.

Plentiful Harvest has raised $8,000 of the $11,250 needed to launch 3 new businesses. We are currently raising $3,250 in seed money. The funding will help buy initial supplies for the motorcycle garage, electronics shop, and fish trading business. As we move forward, we are looking for people who will prayerfully consider giving to this fund. A donation doesn’t just help an entrepreneur realize their dreams. It’s also another step in empowering an impoverished community and nation in the knowledge of their God-given rights and responsibilities.
